Fire Prevention and Firefighting and Evacuation of people
Importance and applicability:
Fire is one of the greatest threats to which people, buildings and the environment in general are subjected. In order to increase safety against fire in buildings, it is important to plan the implementation of measures that not only reduce the possibility of a fire occurring but, in case one does, to know how to react in order to reduce human and material losses.

This training aims to inform e-Learners about main legal documents on Safety and Firefighting in Buildings (Segurança Contra Incêndio em Edifícios - SCIE), the phenomenology and characteristics of combustion, the classes of fire and the different types of safety and emergency signs as well as the methods of extinguishing combustion, the extinguishing agents and the appropriate procedures for the correct use of the extinguisher.
The aim is also to inform trainees of the procedures to be adopted in an emergency, both in the evacuation of people and in the means of first intervention in firefighting, the ways of organising and managing safety and the self-protection measures required.
Training Program:
This course is composed of 5 modules. In module 1 we will look at the legal documents on which fire prevention and firefighting are based, as well as the phenomenology of combustion. In module 2 we will learn about safety and emergency signalling. In module 3 we will explore the main extinguishing media. Module 4 addresses the procedures to act in case of fire and, finally, in module 5 we will reflect on the self-protection measures for buildings.

Evaluation:
Throughout the course you will come across three types of assessment:
- Diagnostic assessment (diagnostic test included in Module 0 of each course)
- Formative/continuous assessment (at the end of each session)
- Summative assessment (final assessment test available after completing 75% of the total course time).
- The final grade of the course will be the result obtained in the final assessment test.
Certificação
Certification in the course requires staying on the platform for at least 75% of the total course time, passing the final assessment test (minimum 10 points) and completing the training satisfaction questionnaire.
After fulfilling these criteria, trainees will obtain a Professional Training Certificate issued by the SIGO Platform (GEPE – Ministry of Education), as provided for in Ordinance No. 474/2010, of 8 July.
